Insulate interior walls:solutions to increase domestic energy efficiency, useful for those with a damp house or to ensure good sound insulation.

When, in the insulation of the building envelope, it is not possible to install athermal coatperimeter of the building, it is possible to provideinterior wall insulation of the House. We start from the simplest do-it-yourself solutions and then go, gradually, to see more elaborate solutions and higher prices.

For the installation of the self-adhesive sound-absorbing and heat-insulating panels, please visit the page:how to insulate a wall.

Thermal plaster

In commerce they are foundspecial plasterswhich can ensure good energy efficiency or good sound absorption if you are looking for solutions for soundproofing the internal walls of the house. Among the various thermal plasters on the market, we point out those based on lime, gypsum, cork and clay. Better if applied with a plastering machine, for a more homogeneous distribution.

Panels to insulate internal walls of the house

In commerce they are foundinsulating panelsof any material and more or less easy installation. Recently, panels with interlocking installation are spreading, so as to leave ample room for do-it-yourself and reduce labor costs.

The interlocking panels must be fixed adjacent to the wall, stacked one on top of the other to cover the entire surface.

Forinsulate the interior walls of the houseyou have to choose natural or low-impact materials: many artificial (or plastic) insulators release toxic substances and make the home less livable. Before choosing a material, also ask the shopkeeper for the "latency time"; some insulating panels, in fact, when installed inside buildings, make the environmentunlivablefor about 3 - 6 months.

For theinterior wall insulationyou go to create onecounterwallwhich increases the insulating capacity of the wall by exploiting a dry laying.

To the pre-existing masonry, all you have to do is apply some insulating material(thermal and acoustic). The mats are also very easy to lay.

These materials can be applied through a metal structure which also serves to hold the infill formed by the plasterboard panels.

Those who want to make DIY installation even easier can choose insulating panelspre-assembled that see an insulating layer already coupled to a plasterboard sheet. These panels are placed on the wall to be insulated (you will have to scrape the surface of thewall to be insulatedto allow better adhesion) using a gypsum-based mortar. This type of mortar has a fluid consistency and will allow you to anchor the insulation panel to the wall. At the end of the installation, all you have to do is paint with your favorite color, preferably using a thermal paint.

This dry layering technique allows you an “immediate” and do-it-yourself solution. Those who do not have good dexterity with mortar or construction work would do better to rely on a professional. For more information on DIY, please read the guide:how to mount insulation panels.

Build a well insulated interior wall

If you need to build an internal wall and want to insulate it from an acoustic point of view, you can take advantage of layered plasterboard walls that are supported by a central metal structure. This solution can only be implemented by experts in the sector because the wall must be pre-assembled on site.

If you prefer to do it yourself, you can choose modules in airborne concrete. Furthermore, you can create a dividing wall with double-layered hollow bricks and lay the insulation in the interstitial space. For more instructions:DIY partition wall.

Internal thermal insulation: ceiling and floor

The same solutions seen above can be used forinternal ceiling insulation. For theinternal thermal insulation of the ceilingor the floor, we invite you to read the dedicated page "ceiling and floor insulation ",in the article we talk about acoustic and thermal insulating panels, do-it-yourself false ceilings and various strategies.
